Given the various locations and limited spaces of warehouses, there is a need for the Department to enhance the overall control and security of stores; reduce deposit/withdrawal time; and optimise the use of storage space of warehouses. The Department plans to apply advanced technology such as RFID, Artificial Intelligence (AI), etc. to keep track the exact locations of stores inside the warehouses and prevent unauthorised withdrawal; develop software to suggest the most suitable packaging containers, storage warehouses and location to optimise the utilisation of storage space; and set up a web portal for real-time monitoring of the space availability and making appointments on deposit/withdrawal of items to improve the overall store management efficiency.
